The Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) is an integrated national framework for health research in the country created under Republic Act No. 10532. It is a partnership of four core agencies namely, Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Health (DOH), Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and University of the Philippines Manila (UPM). It seeks to ensure that the researches carried out in the country contribute significantly to evidence-based health policies and action.
In light of this, the PNHRS Research Agenda Committee (PNHRS-RAC) is developing the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) to serve as the country’s template for health research and development efforts for the period 2017 to 2022. The NUHRA will itself be developed from the needs of the respective region based on the Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA).
As part of the methodology for developing the NUHRA, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCHRD), through its partner organizations will be conducting a regional consultation on June 5-6, 2017 inAlmont Inland Resort, Butuan City. This consultation is part of a larger effort in developing the NUHRA, 2017-2022, which specifies the areas for health research that need to be studied. The regional consultation is the venue for all relevant stakeholders to create the RUHRA.
